Our Christmas Mantle

December 19th, 2010 | Posted by Sandy Garrett in Holiday Decor

When I decided to start working on decorating our mantle, I wanted to use a lot of gold with maybe a touch of red to go along with the tree.  But, as happens with a lot of my decorating projects, the mantle took on a life of it’s own and went off in an entirely different direction.

I was getting frustrated because the things I was trying to put together just weren’t working.  About that time my husband suggested I try using the girl that I had purchased for the top of the tree.  Not a bad suggestion.  Gave that a try and added a few more items and I was really happy with the way it turned out.

The stockings were a gift from my daughter many years ago.

I purchased the girl this year at JoAnn’s.  The candle holders, I’ve had for a long time as well as the Santa Claus’s and the pine cones were from our yard.  The mirror is an antique left over from when I used to have a booth in an antique mall.

I got the house at Wal Mart several years ago.  I’ve had the Santa on the left for awhile and the Santa on the right belonged to my Mom.

This house was also from Wal Mart and both Santa’s were from my Mom’s Santa collection.

Although we’ve really been enjoying the mantle this year, we have big plans as soon as the decorations come down.  The design of the mantle is a bit too modern for our taste and we are really excited to get started on a complete makeover.  I’d tell you what we have planned, but I think I’ll leave it as a surprise.  It’s going to look really great.  We can’t wait!!

Happy Holidays!
